Key travel considerations covering entry visas, seasonal weather, recommended duration, local transit, and etiquette.
Spring (March to May) and Autumn (October to November) provide the most comfortable weather, with daytime highs around 22°C–28°C, making outdoor walking and poolside lounging very enjoyable. Summer (June to August) brings extreme desert heat often exceeding 40°C–44°C (105°F+).
The Strip is over 4 miles long, and walking can take much longer than expected due to massive casino footprints, overhead pedestrian bridges, and crowds. The Las Vegas Monorail connects several eastern resorts, while the Deuce double-decker bus runs 24/7 along the length of the Strip. Taxis and rideshares are also plentiful.
Almost all major Las Vegas Strip and downtown hotel resorts charge a mandatory daily "resort fee" (typically $35 to $55 per night plus tax) on top of the room rate. This fee covers Wi-Fi, pool access, fitness center use, and local phone calls, and is charged upon check-in.
Las Vegas is surrounded by spectacular natural parks. Red Rock Canyon is just 30 minutes west, Hoover Dam is 45 minutes southeast, Valley of Fire State Park is 1 hour northeast, and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon is about 4.5 hours east (or 45 minutes by sightseeing flight).
The legal age for gambling and consuming alcohol in Las Vegas and the entire United States is strictly 21 years old. Casinos and bars enforce this strictly, and visitors must carry valid government photo identification (such as a passport).
